València, November 21, 2025. The Sala Matilde Salvador of the Centre Cultural La Nau hosted the premiere of Raíces y resonancias, an interdisciplinary artistic creation that turned art into a vehicle for dialogue between research and society. The work, promoted by the SIV (Service+Innovation+Value) research group of the Institute of International Economics of the University of Valencia, was part of the second edition of the "Residing in Research" program, promoted by the Vice-Rectorate for Culture and Society of the University of Valencia.
With live music, electronics and video, the proposal explored -from an artistic sensibility- the impacts of tourism and the unsustainability of contemporary travel practices on cultural heritage. Under the artistic direction and musical and audiovisual composition of Nacho Baeza García, the creative team -integrated by Julio Argudo Mielgo, Biel Comas Saavedra, Uxía Sierra Rouco and Jan Corbella Rigual- offered an immersive experience where sound creation, audiovisual performance and social reflection converged.
The evening included an institutional welcome by Ester Alba, Vice Rector for Culture and Society, and the presentation of the project by Amparo Cervera, director of the SIV Group, together with Berta Tubillejas Andrés, professor at the Universitat de València and PI of the project, as well as moderator of the subsequent discussion.
After the interpretation, an open debate was held with the participation of Álvaro López-Jamar (General Director of the Institut Valencià de Cultura), Mari Luz Segarra Taberner (expert in cultural and tourist management of museum and heritage spaces) and Nacho Baeza.
The colloquium highlighted how collaboration between art, research and citizenship can generate new forms of shared knowledge and activate a critical conscience. Participants stressed the need to promote artistic residencies that favor contemporary creation as a meeting space. They also stressed the importance of strengthening cultural and tourism governance in order to move towards sustainable tourism models, in which education and citizen awareness are essential to improve as responsible visitors and residents. Finally, pride in and appreciation of cultural heritage was highlighted as a driving force to protect it, enjoy it and pass it on to future generations. The contributions from the audience reinforced these ideas, showing a collective dialogue around possible solutions and new perspectives on the future of cultural tourism.
