On December 15 and 16, 2011, the Annual Meeting of the FEMISE (Forum Euro-Mediterranéen des Instituts des Sciences Economiques) Conference was held in Marseille, under the leadership of the Institut de la Méditerranée de Marseille, bringing together 93 institutes from Europe and the MENA region (Middle East and North of Africa). The results of the research project FEM 34-01, under the title "The Trade Creation Effect of Immigrants: Characterising Socioeconomic Opportunities Arising From Linkages Between People's And Goods' Flows Inside The MENA Region" led by the IEI-UV were presented. This project brings together 5 research institutes (France, Tunisia, Egypt, Barcelona and Valencia), being coordinated by Professors Andrés Artal, Vicente Pallardó and Francisco Requena.
