Begoña Giner new president of the European Accounting Association (EAA)

On 22 April, Professor Begoña Giner, a member of the IEI, was appointed President of the European Accounting Association (EAA). The position has a duration of two years, and she will remain in the Management Committee of the EAA for one more year as Past President. The European Accounting Association has more than 2400 members, most of them university professors of accounting, although there are also some other professionals not directly related to the university.

The association holds an annual congress, which is undoubtedly the most important event in the field of accounting research in Europe. In parallel to the congress, a Doctoral Colloquium is organized every year, which has achieved great recognition over the years, even beyond Europe, and other events in which it tries to encourage and promote accounting research, not only in countries where it is already strongly established but also in others where it is in its infancy. The EAA also sponsors two journals that are highly regarded by the scientific community, Accounting in Europe, which is more professional in nature, and European Accounting Review, which is research-oriented and included in the SSCI among the most prestigious in the accounting field. Professor Giner has been active in the EAA for many years, and has been Chairman of the association's Standing Scientific Committee for the period 2007-2010.
