The IEI has recently joined the European Conference of Transport Research Institutes - ECTRI (http://www.ectri.org/) together with other institutes specialised in transport at the University of Valencia. ECTRI is an international non-profit organization that was created in April 2003 with the purpose of building the "European Research Area" (ERA) in transport, through cooperation in this area and in the oriented work groups, project framework programmes, seminars and conferences.
The members of ECTRI are 28 major research centres and 20 European universities specialised in transport. Together they involve some 4,000 European scientists specialising in the field of transport.
